In which I am late for Halloween

This is a little late Halloween post. I am kind of sad that all my favourite blogs are full of Halloween outfits but I have none. I was stuck in my rural town knowing no one and with no excuse to dress up. This is particularly strange for me as I have, for the last few years, planned my costumes months in advance and spent time building up all the different correct accessories. It’s almost cosplay. This year: nada.
However! I did do one Halloweeny thing. I ate pumpkin. I bought one giant pump
kin and made lots of food out of it. I made a scrumptious pumpkin curry, but that was eaten before there was even time for photos. Trust me though, it was good.
I then used the second half of the pumpkin to make pumpkin pie. Nom nom. Here we are, one big pie and one mini-pie for the experimentation.

The thing in the middle that now looks like the Apple logo was actually meant to be a pastry pumpkin. I will also defend myself that although these pies look kind of dark and weird this is because I used muscavado sugar which is really dark. Trust me, they were tasty.Oops. Turns out pastry carving is not my strong point.

My only other Halloween indulgence was Slytherin themed nails. I bought some ‘cracking’ polish in silver and did a green behind. It is a little brighter than in these photos, but I couldn’t get the colours accurate. I quite like the general effect and I hope it is smart enough for work in the future. I do wonder what the line is with coloured nails for work. How bright can I go? I might play around with different ways of being colourful and still smart.

Anyway, I may have missed out on the full fun of Halloween, but it is Guy Fawkes Night on Saturday and I am having fireworks on matter what!

  1. I LOVE that you lived in Richmond - amazing! What a small world. And I'm popping over to leyburn tomorrow for an appointment with the accountants. I wonder if we know each other, seeing as everyone in richmond knows each other! I went to RS too, and stayed on sixth form for only one year before i got bored and decided to enroll at darlo tech. Hope you settle down in London, i'm jealous!! x

  3. Fab nails!
I was desperate to dress up, so myself and the boy did and headed to the pub to meet all our not dressed up friends, we stuck out like sore thumbs, but we had a ball!

Is it me or was that title inspired by Howl's Moving Castle's chapter overview? :D
